Kabirvad is the island of Banyan Trees.Kabirvad is located in Bharuch District of Gujarat. En route from Surat to Vadodara, about 80 kms from Surat, 16 kms from Bharuch and a km away from Shuklatirth, a small signpost guides you to a very interesting and historical called Kabirvad. It is situated on the bank of the holy river Narmada and it is a religious and a picnic spot. Other added attractions here are the lotus shaped marble temple, kabir museum and boat ride on Narmada River.


History of Kabirvad


Many legends abound about the birth, life and death of Kabir, one of India’s most quoted poets and mystics. At this places, santKabir had done meditation. Hence, Kabirvad is dedicated to the famed Indian poet saint Kabir. Kabirvad is full of Vad (Banyan) trees and the remarkable fact is that all of these have originated from a meswak stick that was thrown here by the saint. A single tree has over years proliferated into a tree with several trunks and spread in over 2.5 acres of land. It is impossible to find from all group of tree the original trunk. Only one tree has spreaded all over area. Hence, the name of the place is Kabirvad. The tree never aged and subsequently multiplied in number.
 

How to reach
 

It takes about 15 minutes for the boat to reach the other side of the river, after which one has to walk a distance of about one km to reach the place.
